The Young Adult Toastmasters (YAT) Club, is dedicated to empowering the young individual's needs, unlocking their leadership potential and excelling their communication abilities through the Toastmaster International Program. 

 

The establishment of the Young Adult Toastmasters Club was the result of a thought stemmed out by active gaveliers from the Sri Lankan Orators Gavel Club (SLOGC), who could not continue their rich gavel club experience after reaching the age limit of 17. Their anxiousness and desire to continue further in the toastmaster program along with their similar aged peers gave way to the birth of the club.

 

The struggle, as usual, was to find an adequate number of members... the minimum 20 required to charter the club. This took almost a year, as those who were keen to join were either unemployed or forced to concentrate on higher studies. However, with tremendous support from young and inspiring leaders like Passionie Silva, Tharaka Kahaduwa, Fakhira Syed and Daphne Rodrigues, the club met its membership requirements and was charted in April 2012. The club holds with extreme gratitude and thanks to the untiring efforts of DTM Ashok Kumar, TM Farkhanda Syed and  DTM Ahmed Rizvi, who made all this possible, from a dream, to a vision, to reality.

 

What is the Toastmaster International Program? 

 

It is a world leading program in communication and leadership development. It has a membership base of 280,000+ with 13,500+ clubs worldwide. Bahrain alone has over 60+ clubs. The program is innovative, giving leadership experience and qualities through actual practical implementation through given roles in each meeting. Effective communication skills is gained through progressive speech projects, impromtu topics and helpful, constructive evaluations from fellow members. Our club takes the program to a whole new level, by involving the best of what youth can offer. We are innovative and creative and determined to give our best.
